ICFSR Lifetime Achievement Award Renamed to Honor Dr. Jeremy Walston - THE ICFSR JEREMY WALSTON LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Intrinsic Capacity, Frailty & Sarcopenia Research (ICFSR) Conference for Healthy Longevity is renaming the ICFSR Lifetime Achievement Award to honor Jeremy Walston, M.D., a pioneer in frailty and aging research who passed away in June of 2025. First presented in 2018, this award is given annually to a frailty and aging researcher who has made major contributions to the field, with Walston himself receiving it in 2025. The first presentation of the renamed award will take place at this year’s conference, held March 10-12 in Washington, D.C. (www.frailty-sarcopenia.com)
A compassionate clinician, outstanding researcher and collaborator, and dedicated mentor, Walston spent his career in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He worked tirelessly to build programs that improve the lives of older adults, co-directing the Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center and the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory. He also created and led the Human Aging Project and helped build the Clin-STAR network, which expanded support for clinician-scientists who focus on aging research throughout the U.S. Walston believed in equitable access to scientific and medical advances for all older adults and in bringing together individuals from different disciplines to work towards the goal of healthy, meaningful and long lives for every person. The ICFSR is pleased to honor his life and legacy with this renamed award.
